TWC Health Portal — from medical intake to doorstep delivery

The Wellness Company sells emergency medical kits that require a doctor’s prescription. I designed the patient portal that connects their online store with the pharmacy — so customers complete medical intake and track every order in one place.

Overview

The store and the pharmacy lived in two separate systems. After checkout, customers had no clear way to submit their medical information and no way to see where their order was — so they emailed and called support. Every prescription kit depended on a manual hand-off.

The challenge

  • Connect two systems — the e-commerce site and the pharmacy — into one customer journey.
  • Collect sensitive medical data (medications, allergies, conditions) without overwhelming people.
  • Support orders with several kits, where each kit can belong to a different family member.
  • Make status transparent, from “in review” to “delivered”.

01 · Architecture

Mapping every path before drawing a screen

Login → dashboard → order → assign or create an intake form for each kit → submit → medical review → shipping. Mapping the flow first exposed the tricky cases early — like one customer ordering kits for three family members.

02 · Solution

A portal that answers “where is my order?”

01

Clear dashboard

New orders with status badges — Declined, In review, Approved, Completed — sit above the order history. Each order opens its own progress view.

02

Intake, one kit at a time

Assign a saved intake form to each kit, or create a new one in a guided 5-step form with inline validation and allergy warnings.

03

What happens next

After submitting, a 5-step timeline explains the road ahead: medical review → doctor’s call → prescription to pharmacy → shipping → delivery.

The success screen turns anxiety into a plan: customers know who will call them and when their kit will ship.

03 · Mobile

Mobile-first, because the link lives in an email

Most customers open the portal from their order confirmation on a phone, so every step — from login to the 5-step intake — was designed for one-handed use first.

04 · UI kit

A compact kit for fast, consistent build

Status labels, inputs with every state, order cards and buttons — documented so developers could build the portal without guessing.

Outcome

One connected flow from checkout to pharmacy. Customers can see and manage their orders themselves, and the team no longer relies on manual hand-offs and support calls to collect medical information.

The portal is part of my ongoing work with The Wellness Company since 2023 — my Shopify redesign for them lifted conversion from 1% to 2–3% on pages with 700K monthly visitors.
